Community & Leisure Groups – serving more up than just food...
The Community & Leisure Groups are a thriving day service for older people living within the City of Newcastle upon Tyne. The groups are tailored to meet individual need and offer a two tier community based service.
Volunteer Led Groups – these groups are a social gathering for older people to enjoy a nutritious meal and the company of others in a relaxed atmosphere. Transport is available but limited physical assistance is offered to those attending.
Supported Groups – these groups are for older people who require a more supported environment with needs too great to attend the volunteer led groups. A member of staff is on hand to provide assistance, guidance and support. An escort accompanies the driver on transport to ensure the safety of the passengers and to assist them to and from their homes.
Although the groups vary slightly, they all provide: a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, transport, regular activities, entertainment and outings, a reliable caring services and a tasty nutritious meal.
