For the first time ever, people aged 50+ in Newcastle will get their very own celebration during the week of Monday 28th September to Saturday 3rd October.
Building upon the success of last year's Older Persons Day event, this week long fesitival will see a wide varity of organisations coming together to provide FREE exclusive health, wellbeing, arts, theatre, heritage and musical events for older people throughout the City

Newcastle Council Leisure Services, YHN, Community Heritage Project, Age Concern Newcastle and the Elders Council of Newcastle will be providing a huge range of activities for you to try including salsacise, pilates, tai chi, men's keep fit, table tennis, aquafit, badminton, rookie golf, swimming lessions, tea dances, Bollywood and Eguptian dancing, health walks and exclusive tours of the Victoria Underground.

If this isn't enough to get your heart racing, Newcastle United Football Club have also donated a number of free tickets for their home game against QPR (please note this offer can only be accessed by ringing the telephone number below).

If relaxation is more your style, then why not pop along to the Healthy Living Centre, MEA House, where a variety of pampering activities will be on offer such as indian head massage, reflexology, aronmatherapy and reiki to sooth away your aches and pains. Or feel your soul in one of their special afternoon tea and scone afternoons.

Culture vultures will also be spoilt for choice during he festival as the Sage Gateshead, Baltic, Theatre Royal, Tyneside Cinema and Northern Stage all open their doors and invite you to a number of dedicated screeningsm discounted performances, behind the scenes tours and talks, drama, writing and music workshops.

For UK Older Persons Day itself, Thursday 1 October, the Elders Council is collaborating with the new City Library to host a special event caklled `Image 2009'. Here, more than 20 associations and charities will be showcasing their activities to demonstrate the vast opportunities that older people have in Newcastle for enjoying life. Included in this will be demos in tai chi, chair exercises, dancing, singing, painting, hands-on IT gadgets, craftwork, birding, gardening and many other activities.

So whether you are an individual looking for a new hobby, or a group looking for new ideas, then make sure you pop aklong to any or all of the events and be inspired by what Newcastle has to offer you.

Computer Drop-ins : January 1, 2009

We currently hold a Computer Drop-in sessions on Tuesday afternoons from 1.00 to 2.30 pm and from 2.30pm until 4.00pm.
